Mrs. Ilo Mae Collins, age 90, formerly of Selbyville, quietly departed this life Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born March 30, 1928, in Pickens, WV, the daughter of the late Edward Bennett and Clarinda May Bachmann McCartney. She attended Florence grade school at Pickens, WV.

At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and attended the Newlon Methodist Church and Pleasant Dale Church where she was a dedicated member and Sunday school teacher. She was united in holy matrimony to Roy Lee Collins in August 30, 1944. This union was blessed with eight children.

Roy preceded her in death on May 13, 1988. Mrs. Collins was an active member of the Lion’s Club and Upshur Co. CEOs, loved being the Strawberry Belle and her many years as a Senior Companion. As a result of her generous spirit and kind heart, she was loved by many.

Her Christian life and influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Roy (Sally) Collins of Buckhannon, WV, Lonnie (Karen) Collins of Coalton, WV, Luther (Wendy) Collins of Baltimore, Maryland, Nancy Darlene Cutright of Weston, WV, Diana Riffle of Parson, WV, Patricia (Bill) Richard of Selbyville, WV, Pam (John) Lewis of Weston, WV, Dorothy “Dottie” (Randy Moneypenny) Davis of Clarksburg, WV; grandchildren: Tom, Sarah, Katie, Randy, Cassandra, Diane, Jeanne, Melissa, Kevin, Kelly, Jimmy, Christine, Joyce, William Roy, Katrina, Samantha, Tabatha, Becky, Randy, Tausha, Ashley, Bradley; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren, along with many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 4-8:00 PM, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Ilo Mae Collins please visit our Sympathy Store.
