Imogene “Gene” Ruth Gaede Ryan entered Heaven on Friday, August 31, 2018, from her home in Miramar, Florida. She was born January 17, 1926 in Edwards County, IL, the third daughter of Theodore Gaede and Ruth Edna Weber Gaede. She graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, IL in 1943.

She married K. William “Bill” Ryan on March 24, 1950 in San Clemente, California while Bill was stationed at Camp Stockman. Upon completing his service, the newlyweds moved back to Elgin, IL, raised a family there until Bill’s retirement in 1988 when they moved to Fort Myers, FL. Gene’s passion in life was to tell others about the saving power of Jesus through faith.

God’s forgiveness and healing made such an impact on her that she vowed to make evangelistic efforts her life goal. Prior to Bill’s death in 1991, the couple loved to take day trips with their grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Sheila (Jeff) Peabody, Doug (Diane Moses) Ryan and Jane (Erik) Salna, grandchildren Jennifer (Tyson) Billingsley and Jeff Peabody, Jr., and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Arden and Grayson.

Her older sister Maxine Wendler also survives her as does a sister-in-law, Betty Ryan. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at River of Life Assembly of God Church, 21580 River Ranch Road, Estero, Florida with Pastor Todd Weston officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
