Imogene Swetland, 97, of Elizabethtown, KY, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:14 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Elizabethtown, KY. Imogene was born April 15, 1921, in Jackson County, IL. , a daughter to the late James M. and Eva (Crombar) Small.

She was united in marriage to Frank C. Swetland on March 16, 1941, in Jackson. MO. Frank preceded her in death on March 9, 2011.

Imogene was employed from the age of 16 at Brown Shoe Co. in Murphysboro. She retired when Brown Shoe closed. She was also a homemaker and was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Pastor Charles Allen of the Elm Street Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro.

Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Elm Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Crandall of Elizabethtown, KY; three grandchildren, Kendra (Kenneth) Walker, Kelly (Dennis) Rees Schatte, and Kameron Ridings and one grand daughter-in-law, Susan Ridings; seven great-grandchildren, Kendrick (Rebecca) Walker, Kenneisha Walker, Ashley (Jason) Rednour, Brooke (Brandon) Smith, Justin Burton, Amanda Ridings, Kaitlin Ridings; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Walker, Christian Rees, Camden Pierce, Carson Rednour, Hadley Smith, Kyleigh Andre and Eleanor Ridings. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Laverne Small and Fred Small and one grandson, Kevin Ridings.
