Irene A. Shannon, 90, Sykesville, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born April 5, 1928, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Esther (Kriner) Krach. On December 7, 1965, she married Willis “Bud” Shannon in DuBois.

He preceded her in death in August 1999. Irene graduated from Brady Township High School. She worked for Ideal Products as an assembly worker and for Goodrich Tire Company.

She was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Luthersburg, where she was involved in church functions. Irene is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Ed) Hendricks, Rockton, and Colleen Shannon, Sykesville; a stepson, Kevin Shannon, DuBois; five grandchildren, Jim Butson, Jennifer Butson, Jason Witherite, David Hendricks, and Grant Hendricks; eleven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Betty Williams, a brother, Donald Krach, a grandson, Eric Witherite, and a stepson, Ken Shannon. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. A funeral service will be held Thursday following the visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev.

Leon Blose officiating. Interment will be in St. Luke’s United Church of Christ Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 270 Walker Dr. Suite 201B, State College, PA 16801 or to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.
