Boven age 96 of Brown City died May 2, 2019 after a long illness. She was born April 2, 1923 in Brown City to Harvey and Emma Dudley. She graduated from Brown City High School Class of 1940.

Irene married John Boven on November 3, 1945. She was a housewife and mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading to her grandchildren.

She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and prior to that taught Sunday School at the original North Goodland Baptist Church for 35 years. She is survived by three children; John Boven, , Connie (William) Walker and Nancy (Roger) Mahaffy, a daughter in law Phylis Boven, 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren along with a brother and Forest Dudley. She was preceded in death by her husband John, a son Paul, 2 great grand children Jacob and Jobe and a daughter in law Loretta Boven.

A visitation will be at Carman Funeral Home on Monday May 6, 2019 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 7, 2019 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church with burial to be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brown City. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Michael or a favorite charity.
