Obituary of Irene Burtis Irene M. Burtis, 96, of Voorhees, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Irene was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 18, 1922, the daughter of John Balan and Mary Bodnar. She married the late William L. Burtis, Jr. and enjoyed a long marrige of 42 years.

Irene leaves to cherish a full hearth of loving friends and family. She was the devoted mother of William L. Burtis, III and his wife Donna of Tabernacle, Irene M. Lettich of Deptford, Elaine J. Shelton of Voorhees and Jeffrey K. Burtis and his wife Valeria of Vermont; loving sister of Grace Mackie of North Carolina; adored grandmother of Stacy Deery and Sean, Caryn Fetkin and Jay, Melissa Brown & Seth, Kathy McWilliams & Scott, Christina Burtis, Brian Burtis, Adam Burtis, Natalie Kondrla and Tyler, Evan Burtis and Alanna Burtis. Cherished great grandmother of Matthew William Burtis, Dana-ryanne Groves & Joseph , Alex Burtis, Kai Deery, Austin McWilliams, Reyna and Lana Brown, Nathanael Fetkin, Delaney Deery, Nina-Hayden Deery, Adelyn McWilliams and precious great-great grandmother of Joseph Tripp Groves and Lucca Groves.

Irene was also adored by many neices and nephews. An active and vibrant woman, Irene bowled until the age of 90. She was an avid reader and loved gardening as well.

Family and friends also often enjoyed her great baking and cooking. Irene was a member in the Gibbsboro Seniors Club; and also enjoyed going on the Voorhees senior citizen bus for shopping & lunch with her friends. A long time member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Irene served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a committed member of the Legion of Mary.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, November 28 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson Gibbsboro Rd, Gibbsboro, NJ 08026 where her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM. Services will be officiated by Fr. Gerard Marable and Fr.

Michael DeLeon will concelebrate. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. The family requests in lieu of flowers that, if desired, donations be made to the Legion of Mary at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson Gibbsboro Rd, Gibbsboro, NJ 08026.
