Irlene Claxton Lee, 88, of Midwest City, died December 31, 2018 of congestive heart failure. She was born November 12, 1930 in Chickasha to Buddy and Ina Claxton. She attended the St. Lukes Methodist Church in Oklahoma City and was a long time member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority where she served on a variety of committees and offices and was recently awarded her 30-year pin with the Beta Chapter.

Irlene also served as a volunteer at the Will Rogers World Airport for 20 years and enjoyed… Read More » serving the Mid-Del School system by running its clothing room for families in need and often spent time helping with children’s reading programs in nearby elementary schools. She was known for her skills as a Certified Master of Doll Making and specialist in porcelain dolls and won numerous ribbons at the State Fair of Oklahoma. She was a former member and past President of Best Years Club.

She enjoyed traveling to Jamaica, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and New York, and she especially loved her sweet dogs, Angel and Ginny. Irlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband W.P. Lee, Sr., and her beloved daughter Lori Doran. She is survived by her children Desiann (Desa) Dawson and husband James; Judy Lee Oliva and husband Bruce; W.P. (Phil) Lee, Jr. and wife Debbie; and Earl Lee and wife Darlene; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The service to celebrate her life will take place at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel on Monday January 7, 2019 at 10:00am with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City. The family wishes to give the McLoud Nursing Center and Angelic Hospice Care a special thank you for Irlene’s recent care.
