Irma H. Schmieden, 92, of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Applegate Terrace. Born on March 7, 1926 in Marathon, Wisconsin, Irma spent her life in Wausau with her husband of 57 years, Merlin Schmieden. Irma was an avid sports enthusiast and loved watching the Brewers, Packers and Bucks games whenever she could.

A lover of nature, she relished the many years spent with her family at their lake cottage near Tomahawk. She brought that love of the outdoors home with her, and with her green thumb raised many beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed watching the many birds visiting the feeder (especially the cardinals).

A lifelong dog lover, she loved her dog Daisy and the walks they took together. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, never missing a chance to bake a special birthday cake. Irma is survived by her children, Dwight Schmieden of Wausau, Dennis (Donna) Schmieden of Schofield, Debi Whitley of Madison, Don Schmieden of Wausau and Denise (Scott) Stanley of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin, two-year-old son David and infants Allan and Carol. A private family service will be held. Please go to Helke.com to sign the family guestbook.
