OBITUARY Irving Fass February 22, 1920 – October 22, 2018 Irving Fass, 98, passed away on October 22, 2018 in his home at Country Meadows Retirement Community in York, Pennsylvania. Born in Brooklyn, NY to parents Sam and Gussie Fass on February 22, 1920, he grew up with his sister, Ruth, in Brooklyn and Manhattan. With his wife, Ann, he moved to Carle Place, NY, where they lived for 66 years and had three children, Deena, Marilyn, and Steven.

Irving served in the US Army during WWII as a radar-trained anti-aircraft unit leader in the South Pacific. After the war, he was a pioneer in the burgeoning television manufacturing and servicing industries. This was followed by a long career as a small business owner in food services.

Unwaveringly devoted to his family and community, Irving never missed an opportunity to be kind, gentle, and considerate. Irving loved life and its large and small gifts including old friendships, making new ones, classical violin, travel and adventure, science and technology. Irving had a strong sense of curiosity and enjoyed learning anything new.

He had a wonderful sense of humor that he channeled through writing, which was turned into a book of letters. Irving was proud and devoted to his Jewish heritage and community. An active member of his synagogue, Congregation Beth Sholom, in Mineola, NY, he was always willing to help in any capacity asked of him including serving as President.

Irving is survived by his children, Marilyn Neuburger and Steven Fass, his grandchildren, Rebecca Bailey, Karen Ray and Mark Neuburger, and his sons-in-law, Joseph Schmidt and David Neuburger. Funeral services will take place on October 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at I. J. Morris Funeral Home, 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, New York. Burial will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery immediately afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
