Obituary of Irvin Grant Irvin Wallace Grant, 86, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 surrounded by his family and dog (Gracie Mae) at his home. He was the husband of the late Barbara Grant. He is survived by his first wife, Katy Mawyer Cheatham.

Born February 26, 1932, in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Walter Morris Grant and Virginia Carter Grant. He was a retired Core Maker from Lynchburg Foundry with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Living Word Baptist Church.

Wallace loved gardening and farming. He is survived by three sons, Irvin Michael Grant and his wife, Darlene, Clayton “Terry” Grant and Phillip Ray Grant; two daughters, Virginia G. Bowling and her husband, Dexter, Carolyn G. Tyree and her husband, Barry; 8 grandchildren, Wayne Bowling (Caren), Sarah Hudson (Shep), Amanda Bowling, Lisa Major (Jason), Aaron Grant, Cameron Grant, Melissa Grant, Christopher Clatterbuck; 2 step grandchildren, Megan Mason (Danny) , and Travis Tyree; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

The family would like to thank Centra Hospice and his special care giver, Kathy Mclane for all of her loving care over the last several months. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the funeral home.
