OBITUARY Ivan Gean Hyden May 19, 1942 – October 18, 2018 Funeral services for Ivan Gean Hyden will be held on October 30,2018 at 11:30 am at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home located at 1615 S. Fort Hood Rd, Killeen, Texas, 76542 with Pastor Roy Sampson (officiating). Burial services will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located at 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas, 76542 Ivan Gean Hyden, age 76, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, Texas. Ivan was surrounded by his loving family members throughout his passing.

Ivan was born in Hemphill Texas to I.D. and Davada Hyden in which he was the youngest of three children. Ivan joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from . Jasper High School in 1960.

Initially, Ivan was a Cavalry Scout then later served as a OH-6 Loach Air Crew Member and Door Gunner with the well renowned 101 st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Ivan was wounded in combat from enemy actions. He was a recipient of several medals to include: The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and Air Medal.

He served with dignity and honor for twenty years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. Ivan also retired as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and earned 2 Associates Degrees from Central Texas College. On October 29, 1963, he married Maeng Sun Mun who then changed her name to Peggy Lynn Hyden.

Together they had five children; 3 sons – Fyron (Trooper), Earsel, Leonard; 2 daughters – Kellie Rohr and Kristi Barker. After retirement, Ivan lived his remaining years in Killeen, Texas. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends as much as possible.

Ivan loved to hunt, fish, and watch the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Peggy; 3 sons, 2 daughters; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; an adoring brother Dennis of . Jasper, Texas and a loving sister Dixie Lou of Hemphill, Texas.

He also had many nieces and nephews who called him “Uncle BoBo”. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents. (officiating).

The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Ivan’s name to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123, or by phone 800-227-2345.
