Jack David (Papa Jack) Kennedy, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Norton and Billy Oliver officiating.

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

Jack was born on May 6, 1933, in Sweetwater, Texas to Joseph Lee and Juanita Leona (Mason) Kennedy. . He married Jimmie Ruth Spence on January 5, 2003 in Sweetwater, Texas at Lamar Street Baptist Church.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years before retiring. He was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church and also served as a Deacon.

He was also a member of the Sweetwater Lions Club and Good Sams. He was lovingly called “Papa Jack” by family and friends that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Kennedy of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter, Elaine Rascoe of Sweetwater, Texas; step-daughter, Brenda Pearse and husband Barry of Brentwood, Tennessee; grandchildren; Sonya Davison and husband Tim; Damon Rascoe, David Rascoe and wife Montana, Ashley Hughes and husband Josh and Brook Pearse and wife Emily; numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; brothers, James Kennedy, and Ray Kennedy; and sister, Louise Stith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dean (Ellison) Kennedy on May 19, 1999, and wife, Patricia (Pat) Ann (Sharp) Kennedy on October 13, 2001, and daughter, Jackie Creed. Pallbearers will be Tim Davison, Garrett Davison, David Rascoe, Levi King, Brook Pearse, and Charlie Mash. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Lamar Street Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice or American Cancer Society.
