Jack Rupp, 68, of Elbow Lake, died Friday, November 2, 2018, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND. Jack Lawrence Rupp was born on April 5, 1950 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Lawrence H. and Margaret (DeVore) Rupp. When he was four years old, he moved along with his family to Elbow Lake, where he attended school, graduating from Elbow Lake High School in 1969.

He went on to attend North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for one year, before returning to work at the family business, Mendelson Egg Company, retiring in 1991. On June 13, 1987, he married Linda Crinklaw at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. The early years of their marriage was spent riding motorcycle, going to auctions and flea markets, camping, fishing, and large family holiday get togethers, at which there was much card playing.

Jack developed a close friendship with his friend, Doc Kastner. “The boys” could be found working together on carpentry projects throughout the years and enjoyed making improvements for those who needed assistance. This included the addition to St. Olaf Catholic Church and projects for family and friends.

There have been many neighbors and friends over the years who have been very helpful to Jack and Linda—for this we are very grateful. Thank you for helping us learn to care for others. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Elbow Lake; three children, Sheila (Fred) Gratsinger of Oregon, Jason (Grace) Brehmer of St. Cloud, MN, and Erica (Brian) Menke of Sartell, MN; eight grandchildren (and one on the way); a sister, Sue (fiancé Don Schnittgen) Golliet of Montana; a brother, Randy (Karen) of Barrett; sister-in-law, Pam Rupp of Elbow Lake; brother-in-law, Jim Crinklaw of Hopkins, MN; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Duncan.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Craig; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Crinklaw; and his good friend, Dr. Richard Kastner. Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Elbow Lake, and one hour prior to services at the church.
