Jacob B. Hein, 37, of Eau Claire, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at his home after a long struggle with depression. He is now at peace. Jake was a hairstylist/cosmetologist in the Eau Claire area for many years.

He most recently worked independently from his home. He loved his clients, who became great friends of his. Jake always had time to listen and worked hard to help others deal with their own problems.

His care and compassion for others was his most endearing trait. He had a strong faith in God and brought others to explore their spirituality. He enjoyed making others laugh through acting, voice impressions, and singing; he was a talented gourmet cook and loved making meals for his friends and family.

He enjoyed decorating, antiquing, and had a special place in his heart for animals. His nephews and niece were his everything; he cherished time with them and loved watching them grow. He will be dearly missed by his mother and stepfather, Judy and Greg Sommerfeld of Chippewa Falls; his sisters, Jamie Hein and Gena Callihan, both of Eau Claire; his maternal grandmother, Lovetta Misfeldt of Eau Claire; his father, Jerry Hein of Florida; nephews, Vincent, Nicholas and Gabriel Hein; niece, Carly Murray; his partner, Reed Rathbun; cousins, Michelle and Brian Nelson, Allison and Lucas of Eau Claire; other family and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 20 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel. *** A graveside service will be held for Jacob and his grandmother, Lovetta Misfeldt, at 1 p.m., Saturday June 8, 2019 at Forest Hill Cemetery, 822 Emery St. Eau Claire with Rev.
