Jacqueline Rose (Popejoy) Maakestad was born at home on October 5, 1932, to Virgil and Sarah (Channel) Popejoy. On December 31, 1950, she was united in marriage to Cliff Maakestad.

They made their home northwest of Radcliffe. She kept busy raising 5 children. She and Cliff started their own business, Cliff and Jackies Flowers.
