Jacqueline “Me-Maw” Zahler, 86, went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2018. She was born February 20, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to Ruth Timcik and step father, Frank. She was a longtime administrative assistant for the Superintendents at the Manchester Local Schools with over 38 years of service.

She and her husband John were members of Cornerstone Mennonite Church and longtime past members of Community Church of Portage where she at one time taught Sunday School. Jackie enjoyed painting and took art lessons for many years with her friends. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering them on.

Jackie was known for being a groupie for her grandson, Joshua who was a musician who performed in many different venues. She was his number one fan. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, John E. Zahler; brother, Frank “Buddy” Chenault; and sister-in-law, Jeri Chenault.

She is survived by her son, John A. Zahler (Bryan Bean); daughter, Lark (Perry) Surgeon; brothers, John Chenault, Chuck (Marge) Timcik; grandchildren, Joshua Surgeon and Jennifer (David) Minney; precious great-grandson, Graham Louis Minney; many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home 3326 Manchester Rd. on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m., with Pastor Stan Grizzle officiating.

Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road in memory of Jackie.
