Ellaville, GA – Mrs. Jacquelyn Rigsby Dillard, 90, passed away on June 23, 2018 at her home in Ellaville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Ellaville United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev.

Joy Wilson will officiate. Jacquelyn was born on February 13, 1928, in Ellaville, Georgia, to the late Earnest Carl and Rena Halley Rigsby. She graduated from Schley County High School, and obtained her BS in Education from Georgia State College for Women, now Georgia College and State University.

After college she worked for Emory University in Atlanta, and taught in Madison, Georgia before returning to Ellaville where she resided for most of her life. She was a long-time member of Ellaville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a classical vocalist and performed at many weddings and special events.

Jacquelyn was a Charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 191. She taught in the Ellaville school system for the first half of her career, then worked as a Caseworker for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services before her retirement. She was a member of the Rainbow Garden Club, loved playing bridge, collecting depression era glass wear with the Glorious Glasses, and traveling often with her friends.

She loved cooking for and visiting with her family and truly had a servant heart. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Vernon Dillard; by a brother, Robert Earnest Rigsby; and a sister Hazel (Marcene) Ellis. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jolyn and A.J. Morris of Columbus; and son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Donna Dillard of Ellaville.

Also surviving are six grandchildren: Chelsey (Zach) Smith and their children Roran and Charlie of Tuscaloosa, AL; Halley (David) Hancock and their children Adelaide and Dawson of Columbus; Caitlin (Mathes) Ballard of Columbus; Jay Morris of Birmingham, AL; Payton Dillard and Jacob Dillard of Ellaville. Pallbearers will be Jay Morris, Jacob Dillard, Marc Ellis, Zach Smith, David Hancock, Mathes Ballard, David Lee, and Dave Perry. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2018 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
