Obituary “Jim” 6/15/1941 ~ 5/19/2019 James Anthony Fischio “Jim” beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away May 19, 2019 at age 77. Jim was born June 15, 1941, on Father’s Day, in American Fork, Utah to Anthony and Afton Fischio. He graduated from Granite High School in 1959.

Jim served an LDS mission laboring in the Swiss Mission and northern Italy from 1962-1964. He married his life-long sweetheart Patricia Sperry in the Salt Lake Temple on December 30, 1964. Dad’s love of adventure and people inspired him to travel throughout the world.

He especially loved Switzerland, Italy, the Hawaiian Islands, and his travels through Russia during the height of the Cold War. His confidence and ability to connect with people provided the courage he needed to experience life to its fullest. He embraced differences and was empathic to all who crossed his path.

He is a proud Eagle Scout, and he served in various Scouting posts. Jim enjoyed many hobbies especially crafting and creating with his hands. He enjoyed entering his various projects in the Utah State Fair, collecting multiple blue ribbons.

He is an avid collector, history buff, and self-appointed photo historian. He spent many weekends traveling to various locations around the state, photographing various stages of whatever construction project caught his fancy. He was especially proud of his work documenting the various stages of the Church Office Building and the Provo City Center Temple.

His love for music is diverse and vast and he bestowed his passion for music to his children. From the moment each child was born, they were held in his arms dancing to his current favorite song at a decibel level, which may not have been suitable for tiny ears. Our home was filled with the sweet sounds of vinyl rolling off our living room turn table accompanied by singing, dancing, and laughter.

As our family has grown, this tradition has been shared with his posterity. Our dance parties and karaoke performance will live in infamy. We are so thankful for the swimming and diving lessons, clandestine leaf dumps, endless innings of baseball, and mostly the wonderful feeling of acceptance and love.

Jim was sentimental, passionate, and strong headed. He was visibly moved by the beauties of the world and the profound truths of wise and gracious people. He did his best to be a friend to all, to shower love upon his family, while enjoying the simple pleasures around him.

He adored, was adored, and shall not be forgotten… in the end he wanted nothing more. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Anthony Todd (Tonya), Heidi (Doug), Mike (Stacie), Tracy (Shannon), Stephanie (Sarah), Liberty (John), Emily (Wendy); 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy (Robert), Gaye (Dean), and Joye. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Afton and brother in-law Doran.
