Obituary for James Cole Leindecker James Cole Leindecker “Jim” age 92, May 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving daughter, Jana Gavin (William) and grandchildren (Connor Cole, Katelyn Jane). Born November 18, 1925 in Hannibal Missouri. A proud German, he was the son of the late Walter(Waldo) Leindecker and Genevieve Cole Leindecker.

Veteran of WWII serving as S/SGT in the Aircorps and was active in the African Theater where the US & England overturned Italian & German invasions. He was also part of the Airforce intelligence stationed at Avon Army Airfield, Florida: largest bombing range in the world. He received African Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and a Good Conduct Award.

In addition, he was a staff writer for the base newspaper “The High Score”. Jim graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in Finance. After college he was offered a job with Mickelberry Meats and eventually moved to Cincinnati taking a job with Busch Meats.

There he met Marilyn and married her in 1955. Jim decided to start his own company in Cincinnati selling “Tastee Tamales,” fresh Mexican food into grocery store meat cases and one of the first fresh Mexican products at the time. He later took a position with Hamilton Die Cast, Hamilton, Ohio, as Vice President/Treasurer and then got promoted to Vice President until he retired at the age of 75.

Longtime residents of Wyoming, Ohio, Jim and Marilyn were members of St James Catholic Church where they practiced their Catholic faith, built a great life for themselves, and raised their only daughter Jana. Avid Bridge Player, smart and methodical, Jim an old school gentleman will be missed by his family and friends especially for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, married to for 55 years, his brother Arthur, his brother Joseph, his and his sister Margaret.

Survived by his nephew Joe Leindecker and his only daughter Jana (William) who lovingly took wonderful care of him for eight years after Marilyn passed, his grandchildren Connor and Katelyn who dearly loved their Papa, numerous relatives and friends, and his little buddy Charlie, the family puggle. Mass will take place Wednesday May 30th 1PM at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel with burial immediately following. James was a devout Catholic and supporter of Catholic education.
