Obituary for James Curtis Windham Jr. James Curtis Windham, Jr., 76, of Fort Payne, formerly of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 17, 1942 to the late James Curtis, Sr. and Mattie Irene Williams Windham. Mr. Windham was a member of the International Longshoreman’s Association and retired after 43 years of work as a longshoreman.

He loved the game of golf and was a scratch golfer and a renowned jokester. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A funeral mass is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Valley.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service with the Rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Prayer Garden Project of Our Lady of the Valley, P.O. Box 681446, Fort Payne, AL 35968. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later time in Gulfport, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jan Windham; son, Matthew Curtis Windham and wife, Joanna; grandchildren, Alora and Lana and foster grandson, Sam; brothers, John Windham and wife, Sharon, and Joe Windham; sister, Leora Hogue and husband, Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
