Obituary for James Dominguez-Gonzalez James “Jimmy” Dominguez-Gonzalez, 57, of Sanford, Florida earned his wings and went to heaven on Sunday September 2, 2018. He was born on January 5, 1961 in Neubrucke, Germany. Jimmy graduated in 1987 from the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico with his BA in ESL.
Jimmy served honorably for 12 years in the Navy Reserve which he enjoyed faithfully. Jimmy was an elementary teacher in Seminole County until his retirement in 2013 and was formerly employed at Ft Buchanan Antilles Elementary and AAFES. There are several former teachers and co-workers he thought fondly of.
Jimmy loved and adored his best friend and companion, a mini dachshund named Babbie, who was beside him daily, she followed him and kept his pace everywhere he went. Jimmy’s favorite quote and he had it tattooed on his leg was by Helen Keller “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be see or even touched, they must be felt with the heart”. This is exactly how Jimmy loved people, with his heart.
He was the most gentle, kind and caring individual to all who were fortunate to know him. Jimmy had a calm about him and had that effect on others around him, especially his wife, which will be sorely missed. He loved, loved, loved food, enjoyed cooking (proof is on the web) and loved to cook meals to share with his family and friends.
It seemed that every memory had some connection with food and his memory was long. Jimmy had many stories to tell and he shared them with those he loved. Jimmy saw the best in people and enjoyed trying to make ‘em laugh with his silly antics, especially his former students.
He absolutely loved and adored his niece, nephew and grandchildren and was so proud of them. Jimmy looked up to his older brothers, held them in his heart and often shared childhood memories. He had much respect for Pedro who was the voice of reason and the comedic banter with Carlos who tried to out-prank him.
He enjoyed travel and had visited some great places in the world both in his travels with the Navy and special places with his wife Shari. Jimmy was so creative, and his passion was making slideshows and videos about and for the people he loved. Jimmy will be remembered as the “little brother” of the “Mafia China” a childhood group of good kids who have remained friends.
Let’s not say goodbye but we love and will miss you…until we meet again, Jimmy… Jimmy was proceeded in death by his parents, father Pedro and his beloved mother, Nayda. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Shari, step-children Sharena, Chasten, Ejae, daughter-in-law Stacy, 3 granddaughters, Skyla, Jaeleigh, Kierra and brothers/sisters-in-law, Pedro and Fran of Maryland, Carlos and Laura of Alabama, niece Ashley, nephew Matthew, Aunt Sara, numerous cousins, and extended family.
