OBITUARY James Harkema October 16, 1942 – October 9, 2018 Dr. James (Milton) Harkema entered into the glory of his heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice Harkema. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann; children, Doug (Jodi) Harkema, Dawn (Tom) Wierenga, Dr. David (Laura) Harkema; grandchildren, Casey (Austin), Kyle, Allyson, Mackenzie, Morgan, Luke, and Jacob; brother, Dr. Jack (Laurie) Harkema; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Jim attended Calvin College, University of Michigan Medical School, and was a Professor Emeritus and general surgeon at Michigan State University Medical School. A service celebrating his life will take place on Friday, October 19 at River Terrace Church in East Lansing at 3:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christian Services or Sparrows Nest, P.O. Box 22112, Lansing, MI.
