James Harper Taylor Of Jackson California, September 20, 1932 — January 22, 2019

James Harper Taylor, of Plymouth, CA passed away in Jackson, CA on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the age of 86. James was born in Sacramento, CA on September 20, 1932 to the late Flora Mae (Warren) and Alan Ezra Taylor. After graduating high school in Sacramento in 1950, he earned his Bachelor’s in Economics from UC Davis.

His career took him from working at Pac Bell, marketing yellow pages to the agricultural business where he published several magazines like AgAlert and worked at the CA Farm Bureau. James was proud of his family heritage and being one of the founding families in Plymouth and Jackson. He had many stories of those days.

He was a devoted family man with many interests which included watching his favorite football games to discussing the mysteries of the universe. He especially enjoyed living in Plymouth, CA and spending time with his family for important holidays and family events. James is survived by his son Bryan and his wife, Shawna Taylor, daughter Susan and her husband George Sugarman, son, Rocky Ballis, son Michael and his wife Debra Ballis, and 4 grandchildren, Brooke and Saul Sugarman, and Morgan and Matthew Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Merriel Taylor, in 2014. A graveside service will be held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA, Saturday January 26, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. .
