James “Ivan” Boone, 95, Olathe, KS, formerly of Gardner, KS passed away Oct. 16, 2018. Ivan was born to Nancy Pearl (Dyke) and Verne Marley Boone on Aug.

31, 1923 in Tabor, IA. He was raised on a farm with his brothers, Guy and Lyle Boone and one sister, Mildred Benedict Boone. Ivan graduated from Tabor High School in 1941.

Baby Daniel James was born and died the same day. Ivan and Wanda divorced shortly after his death. Ivan married Virginia Jean McCullum Everett on Dec.

2, 1953. He drove trucks most of his life and had worked for Montgomery Ward for over 25 years driving trucks. Ivan and Virginia liked to go dancing on Saturday night and take their kids to Lake Okaboji, Iowa for vacations.

Ivan’s hobbies were watching airplanes (a hobby acquired from his Navy years), working on old cars and having a beer with his daughter and grandsons. He liked getting family together for holidays or just cookouts with family and his wife, Virginia. Ivan and Virginia loved their family whole heartedly and unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia, of 64 years in 2017; infant baby, Daniel James; daughter, Debra Jean Craven; two brothers: Guy and Lyle; sister, Mildred; stepson, James Dale McCollum. Ivan is survived by his son, Leslie Boone, Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Kathy Jo and husband Larry Mann, Golden, MO; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Graveside services for the interment of ashes will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Tabor, IA Cemetery with Rev. Jan Phillips of the Tabor United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no viewing or visitations.

Military Rites will be by the Rommel-Conklin VFW Post #7064 of Tabor. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA is in charge of local arrangements with the Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner, KS.
