Obituary for James J. Mathos James “Jim” Mathos Age 91, of Munhall, passed away peacefully at Harbour Senior Living of Monroeville on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Gerda; loving father of Ronald J. Mathos, Eric R. Mathos and Christina B. (Nick) Spade; grandfather of Stephan J. (Sarah) Mathos, Elyse (Brad) Mathos, Gretchen Mathos, Nicholas J. Spade and the late Justin R. Spade; and brother of Ruth Ann Leitholf, Walter Mathos, Dorothy Knight and the late William Mathos and Barbara Mathos Brown. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim worked for the Union Railroad as an engineer for 40 years. He loved the outdoors, hiking and traveling. He had a deep passion for the environment and planted hundreds of trees throughout his life.

Per Jim’s wishes, his grandchildren will scatter his remains on Mt. Katahdin in Maine. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
