OBITUARY James “Jim” E. Wolfington October 4, 1935 – December 5, 2018 Play Tribute Movie James (Jim) Edward Wolfington was born in Hereford, TX on October 4, 1935 to James Anderson Wolfington and Beatrice Nadine Ward Wolfington. He died on December 5, 2018 at his home in New Braunfels, TX at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Garland Ray Wolfington.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy) Scheideman Wolfington, and his three children, Susan Mechelle Wolfington Hullum and husband, David, Matthew Scott Wolfington and Wife, Robin, and James Mark Wolfington. Jim is also survived by six grandchildren, Jordan, Morgan, Haleigh, Caleb, Caitlin, Macy and one great granddaughter, Grayson. In 1940, Jim’s parents moved the family to a farm outside of Plainview, TX.
Jim graduated from Plainview High School in 1954. While in high school he played football and participated in the Golden Gloves Boxing Program. He attended Texas Tech University for three years and graduated in 1958 from Leppard’s Business School as a Certified Court Reporter.
Jim’s first job as a court reporter was in Liberal, Kansas. In 1960, he moved to San Antonio, TX to work with William J. Moore and together they formed the city’s first freelance court reporting firm. Jim later became a partner in the firm.
In 1970, he opened his own firm as Jim Wolfington and Associates. After selling the firm in 1990, he accepted a position as court reporter in Bexar County Court of Law #3. Jim retired in 1997.
In 1970, Jim moved to McQueeney, TX. His home was on the banks of the Guadalupe River where he spent many hours sitting on the dock watching all of the river activities. Jim and Sandy married in 1993 and spent many years enjoying “the Lake McQueeney life”.
Some of Jim’s favorite memories were times when his children and grandchildren joined him in boating and other water activities. He also loved golf, hunting, fishing, traveling, and reading books about the Old West and the Texas Rangers. He was a great story and joke teller; Jim never met a joke that he did not love to tell his grandchildren over and over.
He and Sandy moved to New Braunfels, TX in 2009. Funeral arrangements will be made with Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX. Jim was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX.
A family memorial service will be conducted there by Pastor Dave McKnight. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to EdenHill Communities, 631 Lakeview Blvd. , New Braunfels, TX 78130 or to the charity of their choice.
A special “thank you” goes to Milton Fisher, R.N., with The Medical Team Hospice, for his outstanding care and support of Jim for the past 21 months.
