James “Jimmy” Long Jr., 68, of Lincoln, DE received his wings on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Delaware. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 19, 1950 to the late Elizabeth Paio-Long and James R. Long Sr He attended Caesar Rodney and Capital School District.

He married his loving wife on May 26, 1973. Out of this matrimony came a fine son, James. After school, he was employed as a bus driver leading to the passion of his life driving truck.

He maintained other jobs including mechanic work and the Slaughter Neck Senior Center, Milton Senior Center, and Milford Senior Center. James was a very outgoing person who loved his family. He was very athletic and loved to play football and baseball.

Jimmy coached his sons Little League baseball team. He enjoyed racing cars, riding motorcycles, and playing spades. James loved listening to oldies but goodies and gospel.

He always sang his heart out while listening to his tunes. He spent some of his time fishing and crabbing. He rededicated his life back to our heavenly Father while attending Siloam A.M.E. Church in Lincoln, Delaware.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Althea; Daughter, Jeana Bell of Camden, DE; Son, James (Lakeshia) Morris of Magnolia, DE. Mr. Long was blessed to have 11 Grandchildren: Jerome, James of Dover, DE, Candace of Seaford, DE, Paula of Arizona, Jamesha of Harrington, DE, Ronnae of Smyrna, DE, Jasmine and Dewayne of Magnolia, DE, Asia of Harrington, DE, Ron of Smyrna, DE, and Kayla of Magnolia, DE. He also had 15 great-grandchildren: Carmen, Cassie, Camary, Jhmar, Michael, Carter, Princeton, Amari, Adrian, Jaier, Semaj, My’Kiah, Jkah, My’Khala, JyAir.

He had two sisters, Patricia Dickerson of Delaware, Georgie Boyd of North Carolina. Sister-in-law Deborah Henderson of St. Louis, MO. Two Brother-in-laws Clifford (Rocky) Morris and Richard Morris of Slaughter Neck, DE.

In addition, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be Noon Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 23115 Slaughter Neck Road, Slaughter Neck, Lincoln, DE 19960 where there will be a viewing from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday. Burial will be private.
