James K. Zischke January 04, 1941 – January 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Retired Air Force Master Tech Sergeant James Karl “Ski” Zischke, 78, went home to his Lord on Monday, January 14, 2019. Funeral service: 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook 76126. Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the funeral service.

Burial: 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, with full military honors. Memorials: Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Mr. Zischke’s name to the Fort Worth VA Outpatient Hospital, 2201 Southeast Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas 76119. Jim was born in Oswego, N.Y., and after serving and retiring from the United States Air Force and the United States Postal Service, he lived the remainder of his years in Texas.

Jim committed his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Eagle Mountain Church of Fort Worth and Cornerstone Church of San Antonio. Jim was an avid pool player, excellent cook and enjoyed traveling across country in his motor home. Master Sergeant Zischke was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned several medals of distinction including the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, Good Conduct Medal for demonstration of Exemplary Behavior, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, and most notably the Bronze Star Medal.

Jim was predeceased by parents, Eileen Sova Zischke and Karl Zischke of Oswego, N.Y.; sister, Janet Curro of San Antonio; and infant son, Jimmy Zischke. Survivors: Six children, Diane (Kevin) Blasczienski of Fulton, N.Y., David Zischke of Plano, Donna (Frank) Barbagallo of Cicero, N.Y., Bill Zischke of Fort Worth, Gidget (Joe) Stevens of Fulton, N.Y., and Richard (Darlene) Mulcahey of North Carolina; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
