Jim was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 22, 1936, to Leo and Anita (Brelage) Durcholz. He married Linda Schitter on April 12, 1956, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

He previously worked for Jasper Lumber and then retired from Kimball International. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. He enjoyed playing music and played in the band, Jim Durcholz and the Kountry Kats, for over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Durcholz, Jasper, IN, four children, Nanette (Wayne) Mehringer, Jasper, IN, Brad (Brenda) Durcholz, Warsaw, IN, Cory (Kim) Durcholz, Jasper, IN, Abigail (Stuart) Friedman, Boca Raton, FL, eight grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Messmer, Luke (Sarah) Mehringer, Ashley (Ryan) Kreager, Holly (Tim) Gaskins, Kayla (John) Dang, Shauna (Kyle) Lueken, Kendra Brelage, and Bryce Durcholz, two step grandchildren, Robyn and Rachel Friedman, eight great granchildren, Alex and Michael Kreager, Henry Gaskins, Lorne Lueken, Kade Mehringer, Grant, Brynlee, and Ardon Messmer, one sister, Irma Kinder, Ireland, IN, and one brother, Len (Sharon) Durcholz, The Villages, FL. Preceding him in death are two sisters, Laverne Sermersheim and Bernice Rottet, and two brothers, Gene and Ronnie Durcholz. A Mass of Christian Burial for James L. “Jim” Durcholz will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.
