James Louis Colonius September 11, 1928 – December 24, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card James Louis Colonius, 90, of Morrisonville passed away at 8:20pm on Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born on September 11, 1928 in Hillsboro, the son of Louis and Mary (Carriker) Colonius. Jim graduated from Nokomis Township High School in 1946 and was a veteran of the Air Force, having served with the 170th Fighter Squadron.

He married Cornelia Mae Klinefelter on June 20, 1953 in the Buckeye United Methodist Church. She preceded him on death on February 22, 2016. Mr. & Mrs. Colonius owned and operated a farm south of Taylorville and he also worked as a Driver’s License Examiner for the Illinois Secretary of State office in Taylorville.

Jim was an active member of the Buckeye United Methodist Church and the Locust Masonic Lodge in Owaneco as well as the Ansar Shrine and 3 Wheelers. Jim is survived by his children: Neal Colonius (Marcia) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Brenda Colonius of Denver, Colorado, Mark Colonius of Shelbyville, Illinois, and Jay Colonius (Nenen) of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Mackinzey Colonius, Tristan Colonius, and Casey Colonius; great grandchildren: Norrell & Laney Mae; brothers: Darrell Colonius (Sharon) of Edinburg and Phil Colonius (Bev) of Springfield; sisters: Martha Atkinson of Oklahoma, and Lynda Hutchens of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother: Lamar Colonius, sisters: Ruth Bowers and Mary Lou Huber and son-in-law: Craig Norrell.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 29 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tami Werschey-Kessinger officiating. Burial will follow at the Buckeye Cemetery in rural Owaneco.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Buckeye United Methodist Church. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
