James was born on February 22, 1951 in Roseburg to James Henry and Mary (Goodman) Poole. He died September 27, 2018 in Myrtle Point. He graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1969.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He married Rosita Munasque-Bontilao in 1973 in the Philippines. After he retired from the Navy, he returned to Myrtle Point.

He worked for a short time at the mill before going to work for Safeway. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on computers and he loved John Wayne. James is survived by his wife, Rosita of Myrtle Point; daughter; Rolinda Carbuccia and her husband Roberto of San Diego, CA; son, James P. Poole and his wife Ged of San Diego, CA; daughter, Jaimie Watson and her husband Josh of Clatskanie, OR; sister, Colleen Hay of Myrtle Point, and two brothers.

He also has seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
