Obituary for James Nelson Tubbs James Nelson Tubbs passed into eternal rest on Friday, September 14, 2018. James (Jim) was born to his parents Houston and Bertha Tubbs in Corinth, Mississippi on February 15, 1929. He worked for Phillips 66 (Floridian Oil Company) for many years, working his way up within the company from an attendant to his final position as President until he retired.
He was a member of Northland, A Church Distributed in Longwood, FL. He was a caring, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cassandra, dog and playmate Charlie, and five children, Debbi (David), Dave (Joanne), Scott (Monica, both deceased), Sherri, Michele, and Daniel.
In addition to his children, he is survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was fondly known by his friends and family as Nelson, Jim, Jimbo, and Jimmy. His greatest joys in life were his family, friends, and playing golf.
We were blessed for so many years by his strength, gentle spirit, selflessness, and unconditional love. He was a Godly man and a family patriarch, full of strength and leadership, and a shining light to all who knew him. According to chapter 5 of the Epistle to the Galatians: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control…” The Holy Spirit was within him.
Jim was an example of all of these things. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held September 22, 2018 in our Maitland Chapel, starting with a Visitation at 2PM, a Funeral Service at 3PM, Followed by a Reception at 4PM.
