James P. Curran, 76, of Oil City, PA. ,passed away at 10:55 P.M. Monday Oct. 15, 2018 after a period of failing health.

Born March 25, 1942 in Oil City, PA. , he was the son of the late Joseph A. Curran & Edith G. Robbins Curran. James grew up in Oil City and attended Oil City Schools.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Jim was married to the former Carolyn L. Quinn on Oct. 26, 1968.

and she survives. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary on Oct. 26.

Jim had worked for the Oil City Hospital and later for UPMC Northwest where he retired after over 40 years of service as manager of environmental services. Jim enjoyed being with friends and family, working on outside projects and taking care of his pool, which everyone always said was perfect. He enjoyed his daily 5 mile walks and enjoyed stopping and talking to people along the way.

He especially enjoyed his yearly week in Canada with members of the Siverly Sportsmans Club. Jim also enjoyed the companionship of his dog Molly. He was a member of the Oil City VFW Post 464, Sons of American Legion in Tidioute and the Siverly Sportsmans Club.

His favorite place to be was Tionesta where he had many friends from several states. He is survived by two sons Craig R. Curran of Oil City Colin James Curran Cannonsburg, PA a granddaughter and joy of his life Lindsay Marie Curran King & her husband Shane three brothers Joseph A Curran Jr. & his wife Jenny of Oil City Jerrold F. Curran of Oil City Rick Curran of St Petersburg, FL a sister Judith M. Wenner of Rockland and by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother in-law’s Terry Quinn & his wife Kelley of TX Bob Quinn & his wife Stellie of CA In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Curran and a brother-in-law Gary Wenner and a brother-in-law William Quinn.

There will be no viewing or funeral at Jim’s request. Commital Services will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Friday at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. John Miller Presiding.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Venango County Humane Society or to a charity of ones choice.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Reinsel funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
