James Sidney’s Obituary James Sidney “Jim” Tolbert, 81, of Miami, passed away on Tuesday February 26, 2019 in Canadian. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 2, 2019 at First Christian Church in Miami, with Rev. Richard Royal, pastor, and Rev.

Tom Stribling, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Happy, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Jim was born January 8, 1938 in Miami to Jodie Oscar and Alpha Lard Tolbert.

He was the seventh of the seven children. Jim graduated from Miami High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Army from 1962 until he was honorably discharged in 1965. Jim met Janie Robertson at City Drug in Miami and they were married in 1966 in Miami.

Jim and Janie have spent almost 53 loving years together. In 2000, he retired from National Oilwell Varco after 35 years of service. When Jim retired, he enjoyed spending time at his shop.

In his younger years he spent his free time pouring concrete with Bill Seuhs and camping and fishing at the ranch with his family. He was a member of First Christian Church of Miami and the American Legion of Miami. Jim loved his family and spending quality time with them; he will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Bill Tolbert and Dr. George Tolbert; sisters, Blanche Osborne, Lola Simpson, Ina Seuhs, and Mary Wold. Survivors include his wife, Janie Tolbert of the home; two daughters, Roilene Mecham and husband Danny of Idaho, and Terri Leach and husband Les of Miami; a son, Scott Tolbert and wife Barb of Miami; grandchildren, Caitlyn Leach, Kensley Leach, Kylan Leach, Drake Tolbert, Tate Tolbert, and Jake Tolbert all of Miami, Loecca Margrave of Alaska, and Mattie Eldridge and Mason Eldridge both of Amarillo; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and Edward Abraham Memorial Home for the loving care they provided for Jim.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00-7:30 PM.
