Obituary for James Thomas Johnson James Thomas Johnson, age 98, was welcomed into Heaven on November 2, 2018. Well done good and faithful servant. Jim was born February 18, 1920 to Bert and Evangeline Johnson of Glenwood Springs, CO.

Jim graduated from Washington State College. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic service in the Korean War. In 1952 Jim began teaching middle school in Connell where he married fellow-teacher, Helen Wirth, in 1953.

They raised their family and taught in Connell for many years. Jim and Helen retired in 1979 and enjoyed their art work for more than 30 years. Each Tuesday Jim oil painted at the Kennewick Senior Center while Helen china painted at the Pasco Senior Center.

They enjoyed their home in Connell, their family, friends and former students; and especially their church family of 65+ years. Jim is survived by his daughter Harriet Johnson, son Ken Johnson (Debbie), grandchildren Ben (Patricia), Wes (girlfriend Nakiya), Amanda, great-granddaughter, Clementine, and his large extended family. We give special thanks to the staff of the Tri-Cities Retirement Inn, Hospice and Kadlec Medical Center for their wonderful loving care.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018; 10:00am graveside at Connell Mountainview Cemetery followed by 11:00am memorial service at Connell United Methodist Church, 104 S. Burke Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connell United Methodist Church, PO Box 99, Connell, WA 99326 or your local Hospice. Hillcrest Memorial Center of Kennewick, WA is handling the arrangements.
