Mr. James “Thomas” Nobles, 79 of Navasota passed away Sunday, December 9th at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 12th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 13th, also at the funeral home with Rev.

Henry Sanders officiating. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in White Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Thomas was born on May 19, 1939 in Navasota to Eugene and Alma (Brewer) Nobles. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He married Elizabeth “Lois” Denman on August 31, 1992.

He worked in construction as a carpenter throughout his life. Thomas was a devoted family man who cherished his wife, daughters and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren above all else. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and doted on his grandchildren.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and sitting on the porch deep in conversation with his cat, Tiger. Thomas was outgoing, helpful and generous and was always the jokester. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; daughters and son-in-law Gwen Nobles of Navasota, Tammy Nobles, also of Navasota, Melanie Rogers of Iola and Karen and Brandon Strope of College Station; sisters and brothers-in-law Pearl and Henry Jo Roese of Old Washingtoon, Effie Addicks of Brenham and Ernest Moreland of Navasota; brothers and sister-in-law Joe Nobles of Corrigan and Shorty and Gerry Nobles of Navasota; grandchildren Ryan Thielen, Dillon Nobles, Patricia Rogers, Jordan Harris, Ashleigh Rogers, James Nobles, Morgan Strope, Raven Morales and Brodey Strope; great-grandchildren Jyla Nobles, Layla Thielen and Gatlyn Johnston and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Strope, Ryan Thielen, Dillon Nobles, Cecil Sechelski, Ricky Moreland, Patricia Rogers, Ashleigh Rogers, James Nobles and Raven Morales. Honorary pallbearers are Brodey Strope, Jyla Nobles, Layla Thielen and Gatlyn Johnston. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ernest, Vernon, Russell and Irvin; sisters Sally Tyler and Doris Moreland; son James Randel Nobles and the mother of his children, Carolyn “Kelly” Nobles.
