Obituary for James “Uppy” Downey DOWNEY JAMES “UPPY” Age 88, formerly a longtime McKees Rocks resident, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Husband of the late Norma Jean (Beck) Downey; loving stepfather of Eugene (Jean) Papst, Michael Papst, Mary Ann Papst, and Joan (Edward) Potts; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother of the late William, Norman, and Joseph Downey; dear and special cousin of Paul “Mick” Kirby. Jim was a former US Air Force Veteran during the Korean War and a P&LE Railroad employee, also an avid golfer, Pittsburgh sports fan and former Elks and fireman club member.

Always proud of his Irish heritage, he will be missed by family and friends. Visitation WEDNESDAY ONLY, 6-8 p.m. At the SCHEPNER – McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 165 Noble Ave. , Crafton.

Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Thursday, in Ascension Worship Site of St. Philip Parish, 115 Berry St., Pgh. , 15205. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd.
