James William Newburn, Sr., 81, of Bloomingdale, OH, left this life on September 6, 2018 for his eternal celebration in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born January 25, 1937 in Bloomingdale, OH, a son of the late William A. and Elizabeth E. (Phillips) Newburn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Newburn and sister, Pauline Siragusano.

James was a lifelong dairy farmer. He graduated from Jefferson Union High School. James was a lifetime member of the Church of the Cross in East Springfield, Jefferson County Farm Bureau and Past President, Fair Board member and Past President, Past Board member of Soil and Water Conservation, and worked on the Membership Campaign as a 4-H advisor.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Melching) Newburn; daughters, Sheryl Kay (Jeff) Peckens and Sandy Newburn; son, James Newburn, Jr. and Linda Chappel; sisters, Caroline Brown and Sara Swearingen; grandchildren, Justin (Melinda) Newburn, Jared (Mica) Peckens, Brian (Amanda) Newburn, Emily Peckens, and Dylan Newburn; great grandchildren, Alex, Sydney, Jason, Collin, and Payslee; and his constant companion and loyal friend, Sadie. Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond on Sunday from 4-8 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Monday at the Church of the Cross in East Springfield from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM with Pastor Jim Gaston officiating.
