Obituary of James Sweeney Raritan Borough James M. Sweeney, 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 12, 2019. He was born on June 08, 1955 in Perth Amboy, NJ to his dear parents Audrey (Murray) and James Sweeney. James loved watching baseball and his favorite team was the New York Yankees and our local team the Somerset Patriots.

He also enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music and attended numerous concerts. He loved his family very much and enjoyed the time spent traveling with them. He was a workaholic who enjoyed driving as a corporate driver for Celgene Corporation.

He had a great sense of humor and had a way of making people laugh around him. He was a gentleman and always put the needs of others first. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend to many.

He will be missed by all who knew him. James is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 7 years. He is also survived by his mother Audrey Lobbato (Murray) Raritan NJ, beloved daughter Samantha Renaud (Husband Steven) Piscataway, NJ, his loving son Brett Lobbato, West Milford, NJ, his brother Michael Lobbato (wife Carol) Tafton, PA, his sisters’ Susan Adamson (husband Val) Sheridan, OR, Nancy Millar, Cranford, NJ and Patricia Dubhorn, Lakehurst, NJ, his step brothers John Sweeney, Robert Sweeney and step sister Kathleen Sweeney.

James was predeceased by his father James E. Sweeney (1976) and step sister Elizabeth Sweeney, Viewing will be on Tuesday February 19, 2019 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm at the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan NJ 08869, 908 725-1887. A Celebration of Life Ceremony hosted by Celgene will take place on Thursday February 21, 2019 between 4:00pm and 6:00pm at the Knights of Columbus 60 Shunpike Road Summit New Jersey 07901. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim Sweeney Memorial Fund at Bongiovi Funeral Home.
