Obituary for Mrs. Janet E Roscoe Janet E. Roscoe, 77, of the Alice Center, Malone, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. Born on Jan.

16, 1941 in Chateaugay, NY, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Harness) Furnia. Her father predeceased her on May 7, 1972 and her mother on Nov. 2, 1993.

She was married to Lloyd Roscoe on Sept. 1, 1979 in Chateaugay. He predeceased her on July 29, 2017 Despite challenges she faced as a result of contracting polio when she was seven years old, Mrs. Roscoe graduated from Chateaugay Central School in 1959 and SUNY Potsdam in 1963 with a master’s degree in education.

In her early years, she was employed as a teacher at the Burke Union Free School and Malone Central School. She then began teaching at Chateaugay Central School in 1969, retiring in 1988 after 22 years of service. Mrs. Roscoe was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay and a member of the College Club in Malone.

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Barbara Furnia of Martin City, MT, William and Nanette Furnia of Mount Joy, PA; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and William Peets of Chateaugay; three sisters-in-law, Claudia Furnia of Syracuse, NY, Marilyn Furnia of Ft. Covington, NY, Colleen Furnia of Grand Island, NY; several nieces and nephews, She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, John and Lawrence Furnia and a sister, Anna Mae (Furnia) Kunsman. Services will be held in the spring and announced at that time.
