Obituary for Janet “Jan” Lois Bayer Janet Lois Bayer (“Jan”) was born on March 16, 1925 in Granite City, Illinois. She passed away on September 13, 2018 surrounded by her children. She served for two years in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a radio operator, mostly in Galveston, Texas.

She met her husband, Fred, while in the U.S. Coast Guard. When the war was over, they married and raised their family in the Bronx, New York. Janet worked at Chase Manhattan Bank for 20 years and retired with Fred to Tucson, Arizona in 1974.

They were married for 69 years until Fred passed away in 2015. Fred and Jan are survived by their three children: Suzanne Reinecker, Fred P Bayer III (Annie), and Mary Ellen Druckenbrod (Rob). They were blessed with eight grandchildren: Robert Follini, Kristen DeCoteau, Joseph Follini, Jennifer Poppe, Christian Bayer (deceased), Robin Hale, Sarah Doss and John Hobby.

Jan and her husband Fred were also blessed with 19 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate her life will be held on September 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church in Tucson, 2551 W. Orange Grove Road. The family wishes to thank all family and friends for their tremendous love and support.
