Janet Marie Geisler lost her battle with Alzheimer’s, December 4th, 2018. She resided her final years at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. Janet was the 6th of 7 children born to Perry Housel Reed and Maggie V (Woodford) Reed, in Pentwater, MI, on April 18, 1941.

She was blessed to live in the lake area all her life, and she loved watching Lake Michigan. She met and married her love, Joe Geisler in 1963, and they built a life together, raised 3 children, built 2 houses, and gave more than a few Western Michigan foster children a home when needed. Janet was very active in the community.

She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Alter Society at St. John’s Catholic Church in Claybanks Township, and a member of both the Stony Lake and Oceana County Park boards for many years. Janet was also quite involved in the restoration of the old Benona School into the Benona Township Hall. She painted and quilted in her spare time, but was most proud of her collection of Nativity Scenes from around the world, of which she received some local fame!

Janet lived and worked with debilitating Rheumatoid Arthritis for many years, and the year after she lost Joe, fought and won a hard battle with breast cancer. She was always busy, up until Alzheimer’s took her independence from her. She is survived by her children, Ronald Geisler and wife Kellie, of Spokane, WA.

, Kimberly Kludy of Shelby, and Jonathan Geisler of Shelby; grandchildren Heidi Kludy, Cody Geisler and wife Danielle, and Kyrie Anne Geisler; great grandchildren Alisha and Mickaela Kludy, and Elizabeth Emery Geisler; sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Ted Jeffries, Brother Glenn and wife Sharon Reed, and her friend and sister-in-law Louise Geisler Hoffman. Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe in 2004, her grandson Billy Vannett in 1987, 3 brothers, Richard Reed in 1990, James Reed in 1995, Forrest Reed in 2002, and her sister Sylvia (Reed) VanBrocklin in 2011. The family gives its thanks to Janet’s wonderful friends, neighbors, and caretakers who watched out for her, helped her with the property, and helped her keep her independence as long as possible after Joe passed.

Janet always remarked how blessed she was, having such good friends and neighbors by her side. Anyone who knew Janet knows how much her life revolved around babies and children! Even in the darkest days of her illness, baby pictures could bring a smile to Mom’s beautiful face.

Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks any donations be made to www. kidsfoodbasket.org a charity serving Western Michigan children in need locally grown food. Visitation will be Friday, December 7th, 10 am until the Funeral Mass at 11 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Rothbury.

Burial will be Saint Johns Catholic Cemetery, Claybanks Township, MI.
