Janet Louise Whitman Vanhook, 68, of New Kent, VA passed away March 10, 2019 after a 60 year battle with juvenile diabetes and a recent battle with heart disease. She was the widow of Jim Vanhook and was also preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Edward Whitman; and a sister, Elaine W. Kittell. Janet is survived by her sister, Rose Whitman Schooff (Bubba); nephews, C.J. Neal and and Corey Edward Kittell; great-nephews, Charlie and Emery Neal, and Austin Kittell; and a great-niece, Justice Kittell.

Memorial donations may be made to New Kent Humane Society, Inc., P.O. Box 104, Providence Forge, VA 23140, or to C.A.R.E. (Capital Area Rescue Effort, Inc.), P.O. Box 575, Sandston, VA 23150. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the care providers at Memorial Regional Medical Center and Henrico Health and Rehab Center, for the attention and courtesy they provided in her last days.
