OBITUARY Janice Fulks November 9, 1958 – October 26, 2018 It is with great sorrow that the family of Janice Lynne Wallis Fulks announces that she went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, October 26, 2018, at the age of 59. She was preceded in death by her father, James. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Allen; her daughters, Heather (Brian) Irvin and Allison (Matt) Tomaszewski; two grandchildren, Alexandria and Bailey; her mother, Betty Wallis; her brother, James (Laura); one nephew, Benjamin; and many friends.

Janice was born on November 9, 1958, at West End Baptist in Birmingham. She grew up going to Ensley Baptist Church and graduated from Ensley High School in 1977. She then went on to attend the University of Montevallo, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

She graduated from Montevallo in 1981, with a degree in Social Work. She married the love of her life on April 15th 1983 at Ensley Baptist Church. Allen and Janice had a love that most people can only dream of.

Janice worked at AmSouth, where she was a stock broker for more than 20 years. After her granddaughter was born, Janice became a stay-at-home grandmother, which was her proudest accomplishment and greatest blessing. Janice looked forward to everyday that she could spend with her grandchildren.

Janice taught them many skills, making days at “Gee’s” fun. Janice’s life revolved around serving others. When you visited her house, she wasn’t satisfied until she had put something to eat or drink in your hands.

She was the first person to volunteer for anything at church, including mission friends, food service, Vacation Bible School, bridal showers, ushering, and any other way she could find to serve others. Janice had a laugh that was contagious to all who were around her. She also constantly thought of others.

Whenever she saw something that reminded her of someone, she would buy it and find a way to give it to them. A Funeral Service in memory of Janice will be held on Thursday, November 1st. At 10 AM, a graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, 1230 Warrior Road in Ensley, with Dr. Gary Furr officiating.

Following the interment, Visitation will begin at 12:30pm and the memorial service will follow at 2pm, both at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, 2600 Vestavia Drive in Vestavia H. Memorial donations in memory of Janice can be made to The Lovelady Center, 7916 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL, 35206, or the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, 300 Snow Drive, Birmingham, AL, 35209.
