Janis Madsen Champagne 69 0f Southampton died November 30 2018 in Cooley Dickinson Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born in Northampton December 3, 1948 the daughter of Douglas and Ruth Dukeshire Madsen. She attended Southampton Schools and graduated from Easthampton High School Class of 1966.

Janis was employed as an Insurance Secretary in the Madsen Insurance Agency. Janis was an avid concert goer. She enjoyed live music, concerts and summer festivals, including Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and many more.

One of Janis’s favorite things were the Holidays spent with her beloved family. Janis is survived by two sons Paul Champagne and Greg Champagne and his wife Jackie, both of Southampton, one sister Carla McAvoy, one brother Scott Madsen and his wife Michelle. Grandchildren Douglas and Jacob Champagne, John Gamble and his wife Nikki, Denise Champagne, one great grandchild Lilliana Mitchell, and a long time friend Susan Hyde.

Several nieces and nephews. Janis was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Ruth Madsen and one grandchild Rose Champagne Calling hours and service will be at the Mitchell Funeral Home 15 Park Street, Saturday Dec 15 from 12 to 3pm, A gathering will be held following the services at the Eastworks Building ,116 Pleasant Street Suite 121 all of Easthampton Memorial gift in Janis memory may be made to the Southampton Historical Society c/o Town Hall East Street Southampton Ma 01073 www.
