Jannie Ruth Thomas May 12, 1931 December 7, 2018 Sierra Vista- Jannie Ruth Thomas, 87, of Sierra Vista passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 7, 2018, at home. Jannie, daughter of the late Walter and Rosa (Gilmore) Webster was born in Shorter, Alabama on May 12, 1931. She was raised in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from Alabama State Laboratory High School.

She married the late Horace Thomas, Sr. and raised two children. She and her young family lived in Kentucky, Germany, and Florida. When her husband retired from the Army, she became a teacher’s aid for many years in Tuskegee, Alabama.

She also found great joy in decorating her home, flower arranging and gardening. Jannie has resided with her daughter Rose, a long-time resident of Sierra Vista, for the past three years and prayed at the Church of the Nazarene. Her life will be cherished and missed by a son, Horace Thomas, Jr. (Gwen); a daughter, Rose Todd (George); three grandchildren, Karmen Todd, Jasmine Thomas, and Kennedy Thomas; and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Jannie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Church of the Nazarene, 1215 El Camino Real, Sierra Vista. Interment will be private at Cochise Memory Gardens, Sierra Vista. Hatfield Funeral Home, Sierra Vista is entrusted with the arrangements.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jannie’s name to the Sierra Vista Church of the Nazarene.
