Jay Michael Sowders, 43, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Daviess County on October 10, 1975 to the late J.W. Sowders and Dolores Sowders. Jay was a member of the Catholic faith.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball. Along with his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude T. Sowders and Catherine Pearl Sowders, his uncles, Joe Sowders, W.R. Adkins, and his cousin Jeff “Boogie” Sowders. Jay is survived by his sister, Anna (Kevin Sinnett) Sowders, Alexus Sinnett, his aunt Matilda Adkins, his cousins Jamie (Christa) Sowders and Steve (Valerie) Rittmeyer, his niece Taylor (Daniel) Sowders, his nephew Jordan (Retha) Towery and several cousins in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
