OBITUARY Jean Carolyn Evans Hall Passed away on December 3, 2018 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt will be dearly missed. Jean Carolyn Evans Hall, 92 of Olive Branch, MS passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2018. She was born January 25, 1926 in Memphis, TN to Alban L. & Tennye (Dowdy) Evans.

She was a 1944 graduate of South Side HS. She met the cutest guy, the love of her life who lived next door, Donnell D. Hall and they were married on February 2, 1951. Since a young girl, it was her dream to sing opera professionally, Jean not only loved to sing but danced professionally and by the age of 15 became involved in singing solos in the “Young America Sings” chorus at WMC Radio Station.

After graduating high school she went to work in the office of WMC and sang solos twice a week “on the air” in the Novelty Revue Show. Voice lessons were a very special part of her young life, as she studied opera with several teachers. One of the things she enjoyed most was singing at the Memphis Open Air Theater, known as “MOAT”.

In 1945 she performed in the show called “Roberta”. After marrying Don and having children, her favorite place to be on Sundays was with them at First Methodist Church in downtown Memphis, where they were members and she was a soloist in the choir for 25 years. In most recent years she was a member of Maples Methodist Church in Olive Branch, MS.

In her later years she and Don grew roses of all types and were members of the Memphis Rose Society but her main love was making stained glass which she did for 15 years. Preceding her in death was her husband, Donnell D. Hall; her parents, her only sister, Lois Evans and her only brother, Alban C. Evans. She is survived by her children, Randy D. Hall of Byhalia, MS; Mindy H. Thompson of Memphis, TN; Robin B. Hall of Naugatuck CT and Donnell Shawn Hall (Marcia) of Horn Lake, MS.

She also leaves a granddaughter, Rachel H. Makowski (Michael), three grandsons, Donnell Kurt Jones (Trina), Brandon Hall, and Ty M. Thompson; one great granddaughter, Karly Jones; one great grandson, Declan Makowski; one step granddaughter, Emily H. Blassingame; five step great grandsons, Joe and Adam Hunsucker, Jordan and Jacob Menzi and Oliver Makowski; three step great granddaughters, Chloe, Emma and Olivia Blassingame. The family would like to thank all the staff at Olive Grove Terrace in Olive Branch where she resided for 2 years for their love, care and kindness of our dear mother. We also thank all the staff at Great Oaks Rehab in Byhalia, MS for her care.
