THOMAS—Jean E., 95, left Heaven’s waiting room at Laurel View Village and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2019. Born September 25, 1923, to the late Fred and Edith (Berkebile) Schmidt. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Harry Schmidt; and sister, Dorothy Heller; step-grandson, Kenneth Dixon and granddaughter-in-law, Connie Fazekas (wife of Aaron Thomas).

Survived by husband of 77 years, Sheldon; sister, Eleanor Yoder; daughters, Eleanor Mae (James Krug); Nancy (Bernard Dixon) and son, Robert (Cherry Cameron); grandchildren, Joseph Krug (Tracey Krystal), Thomas Krug (Becky Johnson), Karen Wanamaker (Duane), Aaron Thomas, Marcie Kovalsky (Patrick); step-grandchildren, Cindy Criswell (Ronald), Karen Mennig (Eric); great-grandchildren, Anna and Laura Wanamaker, Dante and Areli Esposito, Spencer and Jillian Kovalsky; and many nieces and nephews. Jean graduated from Conemaugh High School in 1941. She was a homemaker, Deacon, seamstress and loved to paint and crochet.

She was a member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren and former member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Laurel View Caring and Sharing Fund in memory of Jean.
