Funeral services for Jean K. Walker of Roseau, MN will be held on Sunday, October 21st at 3:00 pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior with interment at Malung Cemetery. Jean Katherine Austin-Walker Jean, 90 years young, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2018, at LifeCare Manor in Roseau, MN.

Jean was born on January 20, 1928, to Emery and Laura Austin. She grew up along with her brother, Duane, and sister, Carol, in Deer Township near Greenbush. After graduating Greenbush High School in 1946, she attended nursing school in Fargo, North Dakota, graduating in 1949.

Jean relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska, where she worked as an RN at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. She met and married her husband, Douglas M. Walker, on November 2, 1952. They had two children, Greg and Cyndy.

The Walker Family lived in Oregon and California with Jean moving back to Roseau in 1995. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe which Jean enjoyed tremendously. Jean loved reading, motorcycling, golf, and collecting rare porcelain Hummels figurines.

She was a loving and wonderful grandmother to her four grandchildren, Justice, Joshua, Brandon, and Sean Walker. She was especially proud of their military service. Justice and Joshua serving in the United State Air Force, with Brandon and Sean serving in the United States Marine Corps.

She is survived by six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
